Aug 22 2009 MCCFR Financial Statement and Community Center Town Hall Meeting

Date:
Aug 22, 2009 (Saturday)
Time: 2:15 pm to 4:40 pm
Place: 4619 Central Ave, Fremont, CA 94536
Attendance: About 50
Purposes: To present a financial statement of MCCFR event, to award Essay Contest winners and to discuss the future steps of Burmese (Myanmar) Community Center Dream of SF Bay Area

Aug 22 Community Center Town Hall Meeting Minutes

The meeting starts at 2:15 pm. Kyaw Kyaw Soe, Myat Soe Mon and Zarni Tun from Burmese Youth Association carried out as the meeting moderators.
First, the feedback regarding the strengths and future improvements of the MCCFR event were made by the meeting comers starting from pageant contestants.

Then the awards were presented to the ‘My Community Dreams’ Essay Contest winners and one of the first prize winners Honey Aung shared her experience of participating in the event.

After that, Nandi Kyaw Min presented the MCCFR financial statement to the meeting comers and the net proceed of the event, $6,060.00 was donated towards the Burmese (Myanmar) Community Center Funds. These funds will be temporarily kept by the Myanmar American Buddhist Association (MABA) until the community center committee is formed and it gets the non-profit status account.
The MCCFR event recap was gone through by Wai Phyo and the open discussion begins afterwards. The opinions and suggestions of the meeting attendees towards the building of the first Burmese (Myanmar) Community Center in SF Bay Area were exchanged and discussed.
In the meantime, a Burmese Financial Group named “I Life and Wealth” expressed their passion and promised to contribute some of their income to the community center funding.
There were many proposals, but a proposal to form an Ad Hoc committee which will be responsible for inviting the community members for a community town hall meeting to form a community center committee was agreed. A sign in sheet to join the Ad Hoc committee was passed around and there are around twenty people who signed up for that committee.
The next community town hall meeting to form a community center committee was designated to be held in around November 2009. The Ad hoc committee members will be coordinating to invite and arrange that meeting.
One of the moderators read the meeting recap of that day and the meeting was adjourned at 4:45 pm. There were food donors for the meeting too. Thanks for all coming.

Sincerely Yours,
Burmese Youth Association (BYA)
